Johnstone’s paint has commissioned prestigious luxury jewellery and precious metal designers Links of London to create the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.

Johnstone’s signed a three-year sponsorship deal with The Football League in May. It was the biggest financial investment by a sponsor in the 23-year history of the cup competition.

Links of London has designed and will make the trophy, which is 28 inches in height with a mahogany plinth and made of Silver Plate. The company’s list of high profile clients includes Goodwood, The All England Lawn Tennis Club and Ascot. Links has also collaborated on design projects with Mont Blanc, Dunhill, Bedat & Co. and Buckingham Palace.

Angus Blundell, Johnstone’s Brand Marketing Controller, said Links of London was chosen to give the competition a high profile trophy: “Links has a reputation as one of the UK’s leading jewellery and gift designers. Our aim is to take the sponsorship to its next level and the appointment of Links reflects this commitment.

“As one of the UK’s leading paint manufacturers we use our colour experience to enhance homes and businesses. The trophy design is an extension of our design credentials.”

Steve Maddison, Senior Manager, Corporate & Special Commissions, Links of London said: “We’re delighted to be associated with the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy. We will bring the same level of design and expertise put into our luxury jewellery ranges to the design of the new trophy.”

The new trophy design will be seen for the first time on Sky Sports Soccer AM in September.
