Round 3 - Team of the Round

Crewe Alexandra and Bristol City are the proud winners of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy, Team of the Round title following the area quarter finals played on 29th November 2006.

Northern section’s Crewe Alexandra’s manager Dario Gradi and goal scorers Luke Varney, Ryan Lowe and Rodney Jack were presented with the 25cm glass trophy on Tuesday 12th December. The award followed Crewe’s 3-2 victory over League 1 side, Port Vale.

In the Southern section, Bristol City manager Gary Johnson and strikers Phil Jevons and Enoch Showunmi posed for pictures with their trophy. Manager Gary Johnson said: “It’s nice to pick up awards as it shows that people appreciate what you are doing.” City were chosen for the award after beating League 1 frontrunners, Nottingham Forest 4 -2 on penalties.

Johnstone’s sponsorship manager Teresa Quinn said: “This season has been fantastic for Johnstone’s and the teams involved. It is always nice to see the players’ reactions when they are presented with the trophy and likewise for Johnstone’s to be able to show them the recognition they deserve.”
