The Freshney Place shopping centre based in Grimsby will play host to the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy before the imminent Wembley Final against MK Dons. The trophy will be on show on Thursday 20th March 2008 from 9am until 5.30pm.
There will be an opportunity for fans to have their photo taken lifting the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy and to meet first team players and the Mighty Mariner from 2pm at the shopping centre, which is extending a warm welcome to all Grimsby Town supporters in the area.
Phil Barnes will also receive a commemorative award at Freshney Place from competition winner Martin Burns, who was picked at random by Johnstone’s as part of their online man-of-the-match competition.
Thousands of Town fans entered Johnstone’s interactive poll following the area finals and Grimsby’s number one received the most votes.
Martin said: “I already have my ticket for Wembley, and this is the perfect opportunity for me to wish one of my favourite players all the best.
“Phil was instrumental in our success over Morecambe, so it will be wonderful to present him with his man-of-the-match prize.”
As an extra bonus, Johnstone’s are offering visitors to the trophy tour a 20% discount voucher that can be redeemed at their local Johnstone's Leyland Decorating Centre until the 30th June 2008.
Teresa Hardwick, sponsorship manager for Johnstone's said: “Trophy fever is gripping Grimsby and everyone at Johnstone’s is delighted that the fans are getting behind their team.
“So to add to the excitement the trophy will be available for the whole day for fans to pop into the centre and help celebrate their team’s trip to Wembley.”
