Cup fever has gripped Luton and Scunthorpe after the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy made special visits to the towns - to the delight of hundreds of fans.
Scores of Scunthorpe supporters visited the Foundry Shopping Centre to have their pictures taken with the glistening piece of silverware on Monday March 10.
And legions of Luton fans turned out in their droves to get their shots of the trophy on Thursday (12th) at the Arndale Shopping Centre, before manager Mick Harford came to meet fans with players Asa Hall, Keith Keane, and Ed Asafu-Adjaye.
The trophy visits whipped fans into a frenzy ahead of the eagerly anticipated final on Sunday April 5.
They got their pictures taken with the trophy and were immediately entered into a prize draw to win VIP tickets for the final.
Free mini footballs, keyrings, pens and car stickers were also handed out to supporters during the days. Johnstone’s Paint Trophy sponsorship manager Sally Binns said the trophy tours had been a massive success.
She said: “We got a great turn out at Scunthorpe, and it was great to see Scunny Bunny, the club’s official mascot during the day, making our presence even more noticeable.
“And when we arrived at Luton, we were staggered with the number of fans queuing for their photos throughout the day.
“From the moment we saw supporters at 11am, right through to 3pm, we didn’t stop meeting and greeting the fans, which was great to see.
“When Luton’s manager and players came along to lend their support at 1pm, we were swamped with even more supporters, so the day was an incredible success.”
Tickets are already selling well for the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy final, with Scunthorpe selling more than 9,000 tickets and Luton selling around 15,000 to date.
