Rotherham United receive award

It's Miller time for the second time

Rotherham United have secured a unique double to commemorate their amazing cup exploits – courtesy of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy’s team of the round award.

For the first time in the competition’s history, one team has been given the honour twice in the same season, and the Millers are the history makers, thanks to their comprehensive win over Leicester City in the area quarter finals.

It means that Mark Robins’ men will have to make even more room in their trophy cabinet, as they also received the plaudits for their 4-2 thrashing of Leeds United in the second round.

They will now play Darlington at the Don Valley Stadium, which is becoming something of a fortress since the Millers migrated to their temporary Sheffield home.

Manager Mark Robins said: “It is always nice to receive some recognition, so we are naturally delighted to win the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy team of the round award for a second time.

“We are enjoying our cup runs this season. We had a great time in the League Cup, which has coincided with an impressive run in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.

“Our wins over Leeds United and Leicester City have given us all a big lift and great belief going into our area semi-final against Darlington.”

Johnstone’s sponsorship manager Teresa Hardwick said: “It is the first time we have honoured the same team twice in one season, but nobody could argue with our choices.

“Rotherham have been so impressive from the moment the first ball was kicked, and we wish them all the best for the remainder of the competition.”

Johnstone’s. Bringing colour to the beautiful game.
