Glenwood Paints Northern Finalists

Amateurs prepare to upstage Carlisle United and Southampton!

Two amateur football teams are planning on upstaging Carlisle United and Southampton at the final of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy, when they show off some silky skills of their own to a packed Wembley Stadium.

March 2010

All Stars and Glenwood Paints have beaten scores of other teams to reach the final of the Johnstone’s Paint 5-a-side competition.

Amateur football teams up and down the country have been battling it out all season to reach the final of the nationwide tournament, which is unrivalled in offering a trip to the Home of Football as a final incentive.

The All Stars, based in Bromley & Orpington, made it through to Wembley by winning the Southern Area Final held at Milton Keynes on Sunday 7th March.

They are certainly no strangers to success having already won seven national titles and are the current 6-a-side World Champions when they represented England in 2008 at Old Trafford.

Darlington based Glenwood Paints will be their opponents, who won the competition last season and know all about playing in front of thousands.

They made it through to Wembley again by winning the Northern Area Final at Powerleague Trafford on Sunday March 7.

The teams will be taken to the stadium by executive coach, provided with their own team strip, get ready in their exclusive changing room and walk out onto the hallowed turf to play the match of their life in the Johnstone’s Paint 5-a-Side final.

Decorating Centre Marketing Manager Gina Laycock is delighted that Johnstone’s have been able to give this opportunity to amateur players to chase every footballer’s dream and play at Wembley.

“This is a unique opportunity that money just can’t buy. It’s a once in a lifetime chance to play in front of thousands of fans and the ultimate football experience!”

Johnstone's. Bringing colour to the beautiful game.
