Fans urged to vote for the ultimate finish of the season

Ten of the sweetest strikes in this year’s Johnstone’s Paint Trophy have been shortlisted to win the Ultimate Finish of the Season award – and fans are now urged to vote for their favourite. After 155 goals were scored in this season’s trophy, a Johnstone’s Paint panel had the unenviable task of whittling them down for their final Ultimate Finish accolade.

April 2010

All season, Johnstone’s have been asking fans to vote for their favourite goal after each round of action.

And now, the best is yet to come, courtesy of an overall goal of the season award, which supporters can now vote for online.

The shortlisted efforts are expected to generate a great deal of debate amongst fans and it is hoped that they will all log on to cast their expert eyes over the nominations.

The player with the most votes will be crowned as the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy’s Ultimate Finish of the Season winner, while one lucky supporter who voted for him will win a Sony Playstation 3 console with latest Fifa game after the closing date of April 30.

The nominations are:

Danny Stevens Cheltenham v TORQUAY Round 1

Danny Whitaker OLDHAM v Accrington Round 1

James Walker HERFORD v Aldershot Round 2

Scott Wagstaff CHARLTON v Barnet Round 2

Peter Sweeney Leeds v GRIMSBY Area Quarter Finals

Aaron Wilbraham MK DONS v Northamton Area Quarter Finals

Matty Robson CARLISLE v Bradford Area Semi Finals

Neil Kilkenny LEEDS v Accrington Area Semi Finals

Graham Kavanagh Leeds v CARLISLE Area Finals

Michail Antonio Carlise v SOUTHAMPTON JPT FINAL

The Ultimate Finish initiative caps a hugely successful season for the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy, which boasted a record final attendance of over 73,000, while an average of around 6,000 fans came to watch each of the 49 games played.

Johnstone’s Paint Trophy sponsorship manager Teresa Hardwick said: “We have been able to boast a number of successes this season, one of which being our Ultimate Finish competition, which has gone from strength to strength.

“It is the first year that we have launched it, and we’ve been astounded by the levels of interest, right from the first round back in September.

“With so many goals scored in each round, it has been a tough process getting the strikes down to ten, but we hope everyone will agree that they are ten goals to savour.”

For your chance to take part watch the video in our competitions section and vote for your Ultimate Finish winner before April 30th.
