Johnstone's give Carlisle couple a ticket to ride!
It was barely a case of ‘paradise by the dashboard light’ for a Carlisle United couple, when they lost their tickets to the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy final – in their car!
Malcolm and Gilly Mason were the unlucky couple, who somehow lost four tickets to the final when they got lodged down the front of their car interior.
March 2010
The pair were quoted £700 to retrieve them by a local garage, and even got a local vet to plunge a camera into the upholstery to try and find the missing tickets.
But their tears have been replaced by cheers, after the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy read about their plight and sent them four replacement tickets.
Gilly said: “We can’t thank the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy enough for saving our big day out, which we have been looking forward to for so long.
“We have tried just about everything to get the tickets out, but we have had no luck, and couldn’t afford the £700 that people were quoting us, so we feared the worst.”
Malcolm added: “I won’t be so careless again, that’s for sure. It is a wonderful gesture by the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy and we thank them so much for saving our day.
“We’ve been supporting Carlisle all of our lives, so you can imagine how much the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy final means to us.
“We were queuing for the tickets when they were first put on sale, so the thought of losing them and missing the final was too much to take.”
Johnstone’s Paint Trophy sponsorship manager Teresa Hardwick said: “Thousands of die-hard Carlisle fans are going to be making the trip to Wembley and we want every one of them to savour the day.
“When we heard about Malcolm and Gilly’s difficulties, we did everything we could to help them get to the final as well. We hope they enjoy the occasion.”
Johnstone’s. Bringing colour to the beautiful game.
