Two young Southampton and Carlisle United fans are celebrating a dream come true after they were named as winners of a national competition to take part in a half time penalty shoot-out at the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy Final at Wembley Stadium.
March 2010
Ewan Douglas and Liam Purdham (Carlisle) and Olivia Richardson and Jack Delaney (Southampton) will kick penalties against the clubs’ fury mascots at the match, when their beloved teams clash in the final on March 28.
Speaking of his excitement, Liam said he couldn’t believe his luck when he heard that he had won.
He said: “It is a dream come true to have won, and I still can’t quite believe it.”
Gina Laycock, Decorating Centre Marketing Manager for Johnstone's, said: “The uptake for this competition was overwhelming, it has been fantastic. I hope that the youngsters enjoy their day at Wembley and they show everyone what they are made of.”
The proud winners will receive football goodie bags including four tickets to the Final, a personalised Carlisle United football kit and a club football.
