Patulea wins Johnstone's Ultimate Finish award
Leyton Orient star Adrian Patulea has scored some great goals in his time at Brisbane Road – and his recent strike in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy might well be his best.
Leyton Orient star Adrian Patulea has scored some great goals in his time at Brisbane Road – and his recent strike in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy might well be his best.
Patulea’s fabulous strike for the Os in the second round of the trophy against Brighton & Hove Albion has been nominated as the competition’s Ultimate Finish, with hundreds of supporters voting for the goal.
Joshua Antoniou of Enfield was picked at random from everyone who voted for Adrian. He wins an ipod nano and will present Adrian with his award ahead of Orient’s home game with Gillingham on Tuesday December 1.
After each round a video of the best goals are displayed on the Johnstones paint trophy website for fans to log on and vote for their favorite from all the goals shortlisted. Adrian’s emphatic finish came out on top for this round, with 34 per cent of fans voting it as their ‘ultimate finish’.
It narrowly beat Peter Sweeney’s fine goal for Grimsby Town against Hartlepool into second place.
Adrian said: “It was a sweet feeling after I scored the goal, and even nicer that fans have recognised it as the official Ultimate Finish for round two.
Winning supporter Joshua said: “I’m so pleased to have been picked as the winning fan. I’m a season ticket holder and a big fan of Adrian’s, so I can’t wait to present him with his award.”
Johnstone’s Paint Trophy’s sponsorship manager Teresa Hardwick added: “Our Ultimate Finish awards have really captured the imagination. We are getting scores of votes after each round, and are delighted with the whole initiative.”
After the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy Final, fans and customers will then have the opportunity to vote for the ‘Best 3 Goals of the Season.’ The winning goalscorers will be presented with a “Johnstone’s Paint Ultimate Finish of the Season Award” and one lucky entrant will win a fantastic Sony Playstation 3 console with latest Fifa game.
To enter log on from Friday November 27 and vote for your top goal from the area quarter final games played on the 11th and 12th November 2009.
