Winning boot designed by Rhys Kemish

Southampton and Carlisle schools go football crazy with Johnstone's

When the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy asked Southampton and Carlisle children to help bring some colour to the beautiful game, they didn’t disappoint. Youngsters at schools in the two areas created a number of colourful football boot designs for the trophy’s imaginative design-a-boot competition.

Pupils at Springwell School and Bassett Green Primary School (Southampton) hit the mark in style to celebrate the Saints’ Wembley win last month.

Meanwhile, children at Upperby Primary School and St Cuthbert’s Catholic Community School (Carlisle) were doing likewise, to stunning effect.

The pupils showed such impressive technique and skill that the trophy is now sending them 50 replica mini-balls to say thanks for their impressive work.

And to cap off an eye-catching initiative, Rhys Kemish, aged 12 from Melksham, was one of scores of youngsters to also enter online, and his brilliant boot design came out on tops.

He has won himself a pair of football boots thanks to his eye-catching footwear design, which captured the imagination of a Johnstone’s Paint Trophy judging panel.

Johnstone’s Paint Trophy sponsorship manager Teresa Hardwick said: “We had a fantastic response to the competition receiving a colourful collection of over 200 hundred designs.

We wanted to add some colour surrounding the final and the pupil certainly did that for us. We would like to thank all of the schools who took part in the competition and hope that enjoy their mini footballs.

“They have left their mark on the competition and have made our design a boot competition a resounding success.”
