Youngsters looking forward to a Wembley Wonderland

It’s a case of ‘Wembley here we come’ for four young football fanatics, who are getting ready for 15 minutes of fame at the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy final.

March 2010

Two young Southampton and Carlisle United fans have won the trophy’s national competition to take part in a half time penalty shoot-out, once Southampton and Carlisle United have left the field of play.

Ewan Douglas and Liam Purdham (Carlisle) and Olivia Richardson and Jack Delaney (Southampton) will kick penalties against the clubs’ furry mascots at the match, when their beloved teams clash in the final on March 28.

The youngsters have already been in to their local Johnstone’s decorating centres to get their hands on their replica kits for the final, and also got the chance to see the trophy before it is sent to Wembley for the final.

Gina Laycock, Decorating Centre Marketing Manager for Johnstone's, said: “We have had a great time meeting the children this week, who are all buzzing with excitement ahead of the final.

“The uptake for this competition was overwhelming this year, it has been fantastic. I hope that the youngsters enjoy their day at Wembley and they show everyone what they are made of.”

Jack Delaney’s father Mick said: “I can’t tell you how excited Jack is about this opportunity. It is an occasion that he will never forget.”

The proud winners have received football goodie bags including four tickets to the Final, a personalised football kit and a club football, along with other bits of memorabilia.
