All smiles for the Shrews and Robins!
It might still be early days in the football season, but it hasn’t stopped Shrewsbury Town and Swindon Town winning their first pieces of silverware.
The Johnstone’s Paint Trophy presented its team of the round awards to the Shrews and the Robins, for their impressive performances in the first round of the competition.
October 2010
League Two promotion hopefuls Shrewsbury Town dumped out Oldham Athletic in the northern section 1-0, winning a coveted award for their efforts.
In the southern section, Swindon Town were generating huge headlines of their own in dumping holders Southampton out of the trophy at the first hurdle.
Shrewsbury Town manager Graham Turner and goalscorer Steven Leslie received their accolade on behalf of the club from Johnstone’s stockist representative Jeremy Sayce.
Meanwhile, Swindon Town’s star striker Charlie Austin picked up his side’s award from Johnstone’s Paint decorating centre manager Glynis Rogers ahead of his side’s game against Plymouth Argyle at the County Ground.
Johnstone’s Paint Trophy’s sponsorship manager Teresa Hardwick said: “Shrewsbury Town were worthy winners of our award for the northern section and we wish them well in the competition from now on.
“And how could we ignore Swindon Town’s 3-0 win at St Mary’s? Their win – and the manner of it - was particularly impressive and certainly deserved recognition.”
Johnstone’s. Bringing colour to the beautiful game.
