Crewe Decorating Centre Manager Graham Ikin presents award

Crewe and Wycombe presented with team of the round awards

Wycombe Wanderers and Crewe Alexandra have been given cause to celebrate ahead of the area quarter finals by winning the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy’s team of the round awards.

November 10

The League Two sides have been honoured for their away day performances in the second round of the competition, where Wycombe beat Colchester 2-0 and Crewe dispatched local rivals Macclesfield Town 4-2.

The victory for Wycombe was their first in the competition since 2006 but worth waiting for, with Kevin Betsy and Scott Davies grabbing the goals.

The game featured some impressive attacking play on the night and was deemed worthy of the prestigious Johnstone’s award, despite a number of other outstanding performances on the same evening.

While Wycombe were causing something of an upset in the southern section, Crewe were finding the back of the net with ease in the north.

Lee Bell, David Artell and Joel Grant all found the scoresheet, to add to an own goal.

Johnstone’s Paint decorating centre manager Graham Ikin presented Crewe manager Dario Gradi and players Lee Bell, David Artell and Joel Grant with their award.

Meanwhile, Johnstone’s Paint representative Kelson Small was on hand to present Wycombe’s award to their manager Gary Waddock.

Johnstone’s Paint Trophy’s sponsorship manager Teresa Hardwick said: “The team of the round awards were particularly tough to judge this time around but both clubs wowed us with their performances and were fully deserving of their accolades.”

Johnstone’s. Bringing colour to the beautiful game.
