Fans urged to choose the Johnstone's Paint Trophy ultimate finish award!
The Johnstone’s Paint Trophy final might be done and dusted for another year, but one of the competition’s most important initiatives is only just beginning – and fans are being urged to have their say.
April 2011
The tough task of whittling down the top 10 strikes from 126 scored in this season’s competition has been made, and now supporters are being asked to choose their overall Ultimate Finish.
For one talented player, the accolade will represent the perfect present to sign off their season, while one lucky fan chosen at random will receive a Sony Playstation 3 console with latest Fifa game.
The award promises to be a close run thing, with Carlisle United’s Peter Murphy shortlisted for his historic goal in the final against Brentford, while nine other spectacular efforts are also expected to generate huge interest.
The shortlisted strikes are:
Vincent Pericard Southampton v SWINDON Round 1
Craig Noone Cheltenham v PLYMOUTH Round 2
Ben Swallow Wycombe v BRISTOL ROVERS AQF
Jordan Rhodes Tranmere v HUDDERSFIELD ASF
Will Hoskins BRISTOL ROVERS v Exeter ASF
Anthony Sweeney HARTLEPOOL v Northampton Round 1
Dean Morgan Walsall v CHESTERFIELD Round 1
Danny Hylton ALDERSHOT v Oxford Round 1
Tom Taiwo CARLISLE v Huddersfield AF
Peter Murphy Brentford v CARLISLE Final
After every round of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy, fans have been given the opportunity to feast over the best goals and choose their favourite, with lucky supporters being picked at random to receive an iPod Nano for their efforts.
Last season, Torquay United’s Danny Stevens won the Ultimate Finish of the Season trophy.
Johnstone’s Paint Trophy sponsorship manager Teresa Hardwick said: “Picking 10 goals from 126 was hard enough, so we are relieved to throw the final vote over to the supporters.
“We have learnt a great deal in our fifth season of Johnstone’s Paint sponsorship, but one thing we have always known is just how knowledgeable the thousands of supporters are.
“They know a good goal when they see it, so we look forward to seeing their entries from now on.”
Voting for the Ultimate Finish of the season award concludes on Monday May 9.
