Kent 5-a-side team Allstars and Darlington outfit Glenwood Paints have triumphed in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy’s Football Festivals in Milton Keynes and Manchester respectively, earning the right to play in front of thousands of fans before the trophy final itself.

Their date with destiny on Sunday April 3 was sealed after two exhibitions of flawless 5-a-side football, culminating in qualifying success and the realisation that they will be playing at the Home of Football.

Former Manchester United and England star Lee Sharpe was on hand to oversee proceedings at the two festivals, while various shoot-outs and football themed competitions were also held.

The Johnstone’s Football Festivals are events exclusive to PPG customers and staff and represent the only opportunity anywhere for amateur footballers to qualify to play the game of their lives on the hallowed turf at Wembley Stadium ahead of a major cup final.

More than 40,000 fans are expected to get behind the teams as the atmosphere builds before the fifth Johnstone’s Paint Trophy final, offering a unique experience that can never be replicated.

Football Festival organizer Jane Clough said: “Our Festivals of Football were huge successes and attracted hundreds of amateur players, all hoping to follow in their heroes’ footsteps by stepping out at Wembley Stadium.

“With such an incentive at stake, the action was fast, frenetic and fabulous to watch from the first kick right through to the last.

“We applaud Allstars and Glenwood Paints and wish them all the very best on Sunday April 3.”
