Johnstone's reveal its team of five finals
With five memorable finals now safely stored in the annals of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy, the sponsors have created an all-time team of the last five finals for fans to debate.
With five memorable finals now safely stored in the annals of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy, the sponsors have created an all-time team of the last five finals for fans to debate.
After much deliberating, cogitating and digesting, a panel of trophy experts have chosen the eleven most outstanding players to feature in the five finals played since 2007, ranging from Doncaster Rovers’ win in 2007 right through to Carlisle United’s in 2011.
Every week for the next 11 weeks, the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy will induct a player into its ‘Team of Five Finals’ (in a hypothetical 3-5-2 formation in order to incorporate the players the competition feel are most deserving.)
Johnstone’s Paint Trophy sponsorship manager said: “We wanted to commemorate the last five finals, because it is a milestone that we are all proud of.
“We have so many memories from the last five finals, so it was difficult narrowing down a team of the best performers from those games.
“Football is a game of opinions, so we hope that our team will arouse some debate amongst fans of all final teams.”
The Johnstone’s Paint Trophy will be liaising with the clubs of which the players represented and will be uploading each entry on its twitter and Facebook sites as each name is unveiled.
The first entry will be announced on the week commencing May 9th.
