Jordan Rhodes given the ultimate endorsement from Johnstone's
Huddersfield Town star Jordan Rhodes can boast a glitzy new piece of silverware – as well as an ever growing fan club – after scooping the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy’s Ultimate Finish award.
The highly rated youngster has won the trophy’s goal of the round accolade for his impudent lob against Tranmere Rovers in the area semi-finals.
Hundreds of supporters voted for the strike over similarly classy shortlisted goals from Carlisle United’s Ben Marshall and Bristol Rovers’ Will Hoskins.
The eye-catching effort arrived on the back of another impressive finish in the area quarter final stage of the competition away at Rotherham, which just missed out on winning him the accolade by the tightest of margins.
Rhodes is enjoying the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy more than most this season, having bagged four goals and now winning an Ultimate Finish award ahead of his side’s two legged area final affair with Carlisle United.
He said: “We have taken the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy extremely seriously from our first game against Peterborough and have gone from there.
“It is lovely to win an award like this for a personal contribution, particularly when it is voted for by the fans.
Rhodes joins Vincent Pericard (Swindon Town) Craig Noone (Plymouth Argyle) and Ben Swallow (Bristol Rovers) as winners of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy Ultimate Finish award.
Jordan will now be presented with his accolade and fan Michael Gunning from Ossett will win an iPod nano after being picked at random from all the votes received.
After the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy Final, all fans will then have the opportunity to vote for the ‘Ultimate Finish of the Season.’
The winning goalscorer will be presented with a “Johnstone’s Paint Ultimate Finish of the Season Award” and one lucky entrant will win a fantastic Sony Playstation 3 console with latest Fifa game.
Johnstone’s. Bringing colour to the beautiful game.
