Penalty shoot-out winners limbering up for final
Their palms might be sweaty, knees weak, but their legs won’t be heavy on Sunday when the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy’s young penalty shoot-out winners prepare for the biggest sporting day of their lives.
March 2011
Brentford fans Liam Kelly, aged nine, and Morgan Whelan, 10, will kick penalties against Carlisle mascot Olga the Fox at Wembley Stadium, once the referee has blown his whistle to bring the first half of the final to a close.
And Carlisle United youngsters Robbie Cowley, nine, and Lewis Casson, 11, will kick penalties against Brentford mascot Buzz Bee, with the winners taking all the plaudits.
The budding stars will get three kicks each, and will hope to win the bragging rights for their team during the half time interval.
They have already limbered up for their photo calls and interviews in Brentford and Carlisle this week and all that is left is for them to do is to clean their boots and bring them along to Wembley on Sunday.
Johnstone’s Paint Trophy’s sponsorship manager Teresa Hardwick added: “You can be guaranteed that the whole crowd will be cheering the youngsters on.
“Our half time penalty shoot-outs are always a big highlight of the day and we are sure that this weekend will be no different!”
Johnstone’s. Bringing colour to the beautiful game.
