One of the worst kept secrets in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy has been revealed after Bristol Rovers and Huddersfield Town were named as the competition’s latest ‘Team of the Round’ winners.
The teams’ goal laden performances in the area quarter finals were enough for the clubs to scoop the awards as they prepare for their ventures into the area semi-finals shortly.
Bristol Rovers caused a huge commotion in the southern section, thrashing Wycombe Wanderers 6-3 at Adams Park, with Jo Kuffour starring with a hat-trick.
And while the Pirates were cutting through Wycombe’s defence at will, Huddersfield Town were similarly impressive in the northern section.
The Terriers were positively rampant at near neighbours Rotherham, winning 5-2 in some style at the Don Valley Stadium.
Johnstone’s Paint Trophy’s sponsorship manager Teresa Hardwick said: “Bristol Rovers and Huddersfield Town made our jobs particularly easy when it came to deciding who should win these awards.
“Both teams had unenviable away trips to tough opposition and not only did they win, but they won handsomely, scoring an amazing 11 goals between them.
“We wish Lee Clark, Paul Trollope and their sides all the best in the area semi-finals.”
