2010/11 Trophy Tot Freddie Tilly

Young Carlisle United fan becomes official Trophy Tot!

A seven-month-old Carlisle United fan has been crowned as the cutest football fan in England, after the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy concluded its three month search to find the nation’s daintiest dribbler.

November 2010

Young Freddie Tilley has been voted as the competition’s official Trophy Tot for the season, beating hundreds of other cute contenders to take the crown.

The trophy has been asking supporters to help create a ‘young and hungry’ fan base by launching an appeal to find its official ‘Trophy Tot’ for the year, and Freddie won after receiving hundreds of votes.

He will receive a £50 voucher for the Carlisle United clubshop and a Johnstone’s Paint Trophy goody bag, filled with Johnstone’s Paint Trophy memorabilia.

The trophy tot competition was created in a light hearted effort to engage with clubs up and down the country.

Freddie’s dad Steven is a lifelong Carlisle United fan and travels from his home in Coventry to Brunton Park for every home game.

Freddie and his mum and dad will receive their award at Carlisle United’s home game against Southampton which ironically was the fixture for last season’s Johnstone’s Paint Trophy final at Wembley.

Freddie’s mother Lauren said: “We are thrilled that Freddie has won this award. We all think he is a beautiful little boy but we are a little bit biased!

“When we heard about the competition we thought it would be good fun to enter and never thought we’d end up with an official Trophy Tot on our hands.

“It will be great to go and receive the award at Brunton Park and we will make sure Freddie gives every Carlisle United fan a wave.”

Johnstone’s Paint Trophy sponsorship manager Teresa Hardwick said: “Our Trophy Tot campaign is taking on something of a cult status following its success last year.

“It always generates a huge amount of interest and to see the winning little dribbler receive his or her award is a highlight of our year.

“We’d like to say well done to little Freddie. We hope his award is an omen for his team and Greg Abbott’s men continue to look good in equal measure for the rest of the season.”

Johnstone’s. Bringing colour to the beautiful game.
