Abbott refusing to let go

When it came to handing back the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy after 12 months at Brunton Park, Carlisle United boss Greg Abbott joked that he’d lock it away from our reaches!

March 2012

Like all past winners, the Cumbrians grudgingly returned the prestigious silverware to us, as their position as trophy holders came to an end.

But for manager Greg Abbott, the association with the Johnstone’s Paint brand was only just beginning.

When the popular boss needed some masonry and emulsion paint to give his house a makeover, Johnstone’s was on the top of his shopping list.

Greg drove down to his local Decorating Centre in Birstall, picked up some paint and was quick to praise us for our quality.

“You can imagine what my first impressions of Johnstone’s Paint are, having enjoyed such memorable experiences in the trophy and meeting so many great people at the company.

“However, I had never used the product before we won the trophy, so I didn’t know how the paint would perform.

“Getting my hands on the trade product was more than a consolation to having to give the trophy back!

“Thankfully, it was like us last season when we beat Brentford – brilliant! I can’t recommend the paint highly enough and I’ve already told the lads to use Johnstone’s Paint from now on, if they weren’t already.”

Johnstone’s. Bringing colour to the beautiful game.
