Ultimate Finish is back!

Johnstone's paint gives fans the ultimate incentive

The Johnstone’s Paint Trophy has issued the ‘ultimate’ incentive to whet the appetites of diehard football supporters everywhere – a goal of the season competition and a Playstation 3 first prize.

April 2012

The 10 best strikes from a total of 137 have been shortlisted for the trophy’s Ultimate Finish of the Season award, following a lengthy period of deliberation.

A number of fans’ favourites are in the mix to win the coveted accolade, including Swindon Town pair Paul Caddis and Oliver Risser, as well as Bradford City skipper Michael Flynn.

The player whose goal receives the most votes will receive a beautiful reminder of his effort in the shape of a cut glass trophy, while one lucky fan who votes for the winning goal will receive a Playstation 3, the latest FIFA game and the chance to present the award to the winning player in person.

The competition already promises to be a close run affair, with popular Ultimate Finish goal of the round winners Karl Hawley and Donal McDermott also figuring, Hawley having ironically netted his goal against eventual trophy winners Chesterfield.

The shortlisted strikes are:

1. Karl Hawley: NOTTS COUNTY v Chesterfield

2. Michael Flynn: Sheffield United v BRADFORD

3. Paul Caddis: Southend v SWINDON

4. Luke Daley: Exeter v PLYMOUTH

5. Donal McDermott: Northampton Town v HUDDERSFIELD TOWN

6. Shaun MacDonald: BOURNEMOUTH v Hereford

7. Darryl Duffy: Wycombe v CHELTENHAM

8. Daniel Nardiello: EXETER v Swindon

9. Oliver Risser: SWINDON v AFC Wimbledon

10. Adam McGurk: Chesterfield v TRANMERE

Last season, Huddersfield Town hotshot Jordan Rhodes won the Ultimate Finish of the Season award, 12 months after Danny Stevens scooped the inaugural prize for Torquay United.

Johnstone’s Paint Trophy sponsorship manager Teresa Hardwick said: “We have enjoyed another bumper season to remember, not just in the number of goals, but the standard of them.

“From the very first round back in August, some great goals have been flying in, so we are delighted to be able to commemorate the very best in this fashion.

“The recent final in March represented the conclusion to a fantastic season for everyone at Johnstone’s Paint, and this award is testament to that.

“With one lucky supporter winning a Playstation 3 and a chance to meet his or her hero, we are hoping that as many fans as possible will log on and vote for their favourite.”

Voting for the Ultimate Finish of the season award concludes on 30th April 2012.
