Johnstone's Paint staff swapping rota's for tactics

With the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy final a matter of days away, meticulous levels of planning amongst staff goes without saying.

March 2012

But for 19 Johnstone’s Paint employees, their painstaking preparation for the big day involves swapping shift rota’s for tactics boards, as they look forward to a game of football in front of 50,000 fans.

A selection of dedicated workers from across the Johnstone’s Paint business will be downing their pens and paint pallets for a six-a-side game of football before the final gets under way.

The two teams, named Endura Athletic and Stormshield United, consist of eight players and a manager from different departments and locations across the UK, including the brand’s marketing, finance and commercial divisions.

Stephen Bell, an employee from the Carrickfergus Depot, will be refereeing the match.

Debbie Lynn, who is the manager of Endura Athletic and works at site services for PPG, said: “I’m very excited about managing this six-a-side team at the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy final.

“Obviously getting the chance to manage a team at a Wembley is something that the majority of professional football managers won’t get to do in their careers, so I’m very thankful for the opportunity! I’m just hoping we can win!”

Stormshield United boss Allen Gillet, who works at Oxford’s Decorating Centre, said: “Being told you’re going to manage a six-a-side football team at Wembley is quite surreal to be honest!

“I’m really looking forward to the experience though and I’m sure everybody who is involved will be too. I’ve been reading up on my football tactics to make sure we make come away victorious!”

Johnstone’s. Bringing colour to the beautiful game.
