Stuart Trigwell with draw cards for the second round

No quarter given in Johnstone's Paint Trophy

There will be no quarter given in the next round of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy, judging by an intriguing draw made on Soccer AM on Saturday.

October 2011

Helen Chamberlain and Max Rushden revealed some exciting pairings after turning over the cards live on Sky Sports.

Overseen by The Football League’s partnership manager Stuart Trigwell, the area quarter final draw threw up some mouthwatering clashes, with last season’s finalists Brentford drawing fellow League One side AFC Bournemouth.

It was the fixture that neither side would have wanted, bearing in mind that all other sides still in the southern section are from League 2.

In the northern section, spare a thought for Bradford City, whose reward for beating high flying Huddersfield Town away in round two is a trip to Bramall Lane to play Steel City giants Sheffield United.

Full draw:

Northern section

Rochdale v Preston North End

Chesterfield v Accrington Stanley or Tranmere Rovers

Sheffield United v Bradford City

Oldham Athletic v Crewe Alexandra

Southern section

Swindon Town v AFC Wimbledon

Cheltenham Town v Barnet

Oxford United v Southend United

Brentford v AFC Bournemouth

Ties to be played on the week commencing November 7th.

Johnstone’s. Bringing colour to the beautiful game.
