Round up of Wednesday night's action
With most second round Johnstone’s Paint Trophy ties being played on Tuesday night, Charlton Athletic, Brentford FC, Crewe Alexandra and Macclesfield Town had an extra 24-hours to plan their respective routes to the quarter-finals.

The southern section’s London derby clash between Charlton Athletic and Brentford FC promised to be a closely fought affair with both teams doing well in League One.
But it was Brentford who stole the show in front of the Sky Sports cameras, producing a dominant and entertaining display to win by 3-0.
Blair Adams and Toumani Diagouraga netted either side of a Kevin O'Connor penalty to leave The Bee’s manager, Uwe Rosler, elated.
“I saw a real enjoyment in my players to play in a fantastic stadium on a fantastic pitch against a very, very good team,” he said.
The remaining northern section tie between League Two sides Crewe Alexandra and Macclesfield Town was a close affair.
Both teams have been struggling to patch together a consistent run of results this season, and this was reflected in both teams’ tight defending play.
But the deadlock was broken by a smart header from Crewe Alexandra’s Max Clayton after 75-minutes.
It was the 17-year-old’s first senior start for the club and his goal was the difference at the end of 90-minutes, with Crewe holding out to win 1-0.
Reflecting on the action, sponsorship manager, Teresa Hardwick said: “Our congratulations go out to Brentford and Crewe Alexandra for making it through to the next round of the competition.
“I’m sure both clubs and their fans will be eagerly anticipating the quarter final draw which will be live on Soccer AM this Saturday. We wish them the best of luck.”
Johnstone’s. Bringing colour to the beautiful game.
