Swindon basking in the 'P' Factor
Never mind the X-Factor down at Swindon Town…
Never mind the X-Factor down at Swindon Town…
…When it comes to quality entertainment to captivate a huge audience, the Robins can count on a ‘P Factor’ that is doing more for great football than Simon Cowell is doing for manufactured music.
Paulo di Canio is masterminding Swindon’s march to Wembley with a cultured style of football befitting of the great man’s playing days.
With athletic, overlapping full backs, goal hungry forwards and an intelligent, quick thinking midfielders, Swindon are a team on the march.
A Johnstone’s Paint Trophy final appearance appears to be the very least the Wiltshire men deserve and quite frankly, their fans can’t wait.
Rob Henderson, with friends Ian Bailey, Stuart Hayward and Jaap Sinnage, said: “When Paulo first came here and the season started slowly, he maybe had 75 per cent of everyone’s support.
“But now he must have 100 per cent backing! Fans understand what he is trying to do here and we are playing some lovely football.
“To get to the final of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy is huge. When you look at the past winners and what winning has done to their seasons, you can see what a big deal it is.”
Stephen Ayres, a lifelong fan from Brighton, said: “Paulo is a breath of fresh air and we all can’t get enough of him.I’ve been going for 35 years and have seen some good and bad times. These are certainly good times right now.
Eddie and Ann Hodge, along with Jake Proctor said they can’t wait to get to Wembley.
Eddie said: “We won’t miss it for the world. It’s a marvellous competition and it’s a real honour to be a Johnstone’s Paint Trophy finalist.”
The younger generation of Robins fans were also as excited as their elders too.
Lewis Stocker, with friends India Pervia, Olly Matthews and Lee Murphy, said: “Our favourite players are Simon Ferry and Paul Caddis. We can’t wait to see them play at Wembley!”
Johnstone’s. Bringing colour to the beautiful game.
