Brett to represent a colourful generation

If there’s one player than means more to a club than Brett Pitman to AFC Bournemouth, then the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy would love to hear about him. The 22 year-old striker is the first player to be inducted into the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy’s Colourful Generation squad, which has been created to honour some exciting stars of the future.

August 2010

For the first time, we have created a ‘Colourful Generation’ section of the website for emerging prospects, with Brett becoming the first member into the club.

Each fortnight, the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy will herald a promising player of tomorrow and will award his parent club with a donation of vouchers to spend at one of its 185 Johnstone’s decorating centres nationwide.

However, to call the potent number nine a player for the future would be doing a disservice to him, as his already grabbing the plaudits today.

He bagged 27 goals last season, playing a huge part in his side’s promotion to League 1 against all odds.

Before that, he notched up 17 goals in 2008/09 and has been finding the back of the net regularly since scoring his first competitive goal at Notts County.

Brett was also a Johnstone’s Paint Trophy winner of sorts last season, picking up an Ultimate Finish award for his strike against Rochdale in the first round.

Johnstone’s Paint Trophy’s sponsorship manager Teresa Hardwick said the Colourful Generation club was created to offer a positive perspective on the national game and to prove that there were a number of talented young players to look out for in the competition.

She said: “We are really excited to be able to recognise a number of talented youngsters for the first time, who we are tipping for great things.

“We wanted our first inductee to pack a punch, and Brett certainly does that. He was a player that caught our eye from the first round of last season’s trophy, and we have been impressed with his progress since.

“He will be joined by future young prospects in the coming weeks and we hope that our Colourful Generation will soon create a reputation as respected as the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy itself.”

Johnstones. Bringing colour to the beautiful game.
